Shropshire Mind’s new evening group called Mind @ Play hosted an Alice in wonderland themed ‘Mad hatter’s tea party on Tuesday 22nd September 2009 at Observer House. The event was a fancy dress tea party with volunteers, members and guests holding a raffle, playing games such as ‘pin the smile on the Cheshire cat’ and of course serving lots of pots of tea. Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter were all there.

The evening was a delightful example of how mind @ play offers more people the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of Shropshire Mind services as well as fundraising for the charity and breaking the stigma that is often related to mental health. The evening, which a group of young volunteers have set up, is really an opportunity for a relaxed and fun social get together, a chance to meet new people. Anyone is welcome to attend and there will always be a listening ear, someone to talk to and above all a group of people who will understand and be supportive. The group is held in Shrewsbury at Observer House on Tuesday evenings 6-9pm, and our volunteers will also be online on their new Facebook group, search for Mind @ Play.
